Spiritual and occult truths can never be fully conceivable to the world, therefore allegories are created to help express these truths (such as the stories in every religion). How the truth is received is akin to the level of ones spiritual progression. Therefore, one must remain open-minded and realize that as they change so does the truth. Yet, to blindly repeat another's experience and adopt it as one's own (no matter how convincing it may sound) is belief, not gnosis. An example is the fact that "we are all God". Unless one actually experiences this truth directly, it will still remain a belief.
The gnostic path is through direct experience, which leads to the attainment of wisdom; the most holy path for the evolution of man and finally resulting in Understanding, rendering the soul to excellence.
